The book is composed primarily of annotated parts of an engagement letter, which can be pieced together to create an entire engagement letter, and actual letters the CPA can use for his or her own purposes. The free companion CD-ROM that accompanies CPA's Guide to Effective Engagement Letters contains these same valuable paragraphs and letters, plus case studies illustrating the dos and don'ts of engagement letter use.
The book is made up of eight sections:
- Financial Statements - Tax Preparation and Planning - General Accounting - Other Engagements - Other Letters - Internal Controls - Record Retention and Destruction Policy - Disengaging
The book is formatted so that the left-hand column offers suggested wording about a specific subject; the right-hand column contains comments that are relevant to the subject matter and offers important advice.
The sample letters and material contained in this book have been actually used by CPAs. The book was compiled and edited with resources from CAMICO Services, Inc., a subsidiary of CAMICO Mutual Insurance Company.
A free companion CD-ROM is included with the book and provides electronic versions of all of the suggested wording and all of the letters. The CD also has a folder containing case studies (which are on the CD only and do not appear in the printed book).
