About the Author
Simon Ramo, born in Salt Lake City, UT, received a Ph.D. magna cum laude from the California Institute of Technology. Early a prominent pioneer in electronics research and development he received the nation's highest science award, the National Medal of Science, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Ronald Reagan in 1983. A co-founder and principal executive of several successful hi-tech companies including the widely successful defense and electronic firm and Fortune 500 company TRW, he was inducted into the Business Hall of Fame. Dr. Ramo has served as an adviser to presidents, Cabinet members, and Congress, and was named chief scientist and technical director of the U.S. Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) program, the nation's largest defense project. Simon Ramo is the author of several best-selling titles with topics ranging from engineering to tennis including Extraordinary Tennis for the Ordinary Player (1970), The Business of Science (1980), America's Technology Slip (1981), and the Fields and Waves in Communication Electronics series.
