About the Author
Gary B. Shelly, together with co-author Tom J. Cashman, wrote and published his first computer education textbook in 1969. Since then, more than twenty million copies of Shelly Cashman textbooks have been sold. In recent years, Gary, Tom, and a talented group of contributing authors have produced leading textbooks on computer programming, computer concepts, and application software. Thomas J. Cashman received his education at California State University, Los Angeles. In 1960, he established one of the first business data processing programs in the United States at Long Beach City College in California, where he taught and served as department head from 1960 to 1966. In 1969, he began collaborating with now best-selling author, Gary Shelly. He has also taught summer institutes for teachers at the University of Central Oklahoma, Memphis State University, and Purdue University. Glenda A. Gunter has a Ph.D. in Instructional/Educational Technology and over 18 years experience working to integrate technology into schools. She has co-authored 11 textbooks and chapters in refereed textbooks, published over 30 articles, and presented at more than 50 conferences. She has received grant funding for education, teacher training, and technology integration. Randolph E. Gunter has over 35 years experience in education and training. He has a Ph.D. in Educational Technology, has co-authored 10 textbooks, written dozens of articles, and presented at over 50 conferences. He is president of 21st Century Learning Solutions, Inc., specializing in online training for schools, higher education, and major corporations.
