From the Back Cover
This eagerly-awaited second volume of Thora's autobiography begins where Scene and Hird left off in 1975. After her long and distinguished career in films, we come to the period dominated by television roles, beginning with the highly popular comedy series, In Loving Memory and its sequel Hallelujah for Yorkshire Television. She has been a stalwart of Alan Bennett's television plays, including Me, I'm Afraid of Virginia Woolf and won a BAFTA award for her performance in Cream Cracker, part of the Talking Heads series. Throughout the eighties, Thora presented Praise Be!, and also became the most famous guest star in the long-running comedy series Last of the Summer Wine. In 1993, Thora became a Dame of the British Empire. At the end of 1994 she lost her husband of over fifty years, James Scott, but continued to make regular appearances on television.
