About the Author
O.C. Ferrell is the Bill Daniels Distinguished Professor of Business Ethics at the University of Wyoming and will join the Anderson Schools of Management at the University of New Mexico later this year. He is also editor of www.e-businessethics.com and has developed a business ethics certificate program. He has been quoted in USA Today and appeared on the NBC Today Show. He has served as an expert witness in several high profile cases relating to ethical and legal disputes. Michael D. Hartline (Ph.D., University of Memphis) is a senior assistant professor of marketing in the College of Business at Florida State University. Prior to joining the faculty at FSU, Dr. Hartline taught at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Louisiana State University, and Samford University. His M.B.A. and B.S. degrees are from Jacksonville State University in Alabama.
Dr. Hartline has taught a wide variety of courses, including marketing strategy, retailing management, services marketing, electronic commerce, sports marketing, and international marketing. He has won numerous awards for teaching and research excellence and has made many presentations to industry and academic audiences. He has served as a consultant to several for-profit and noprofit organizations in the areas of marketing plan development, market feasibility analysis, customer satisfaction measurement, employee training, and pricing policy.
Dr. Hartline's research focuses on implementation issues in service firms, especially issues related to managing customer-contact employees. His research has appeared in the Journal of Marketing, the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Strategic Marketing, the Journal of Business Ethics, the Journal of Services Marketing, and the Marketing Science Institute Working Paper Series.
A native of Alabama, Dr. Hartline and his wife Marsha live in Tallahassee with their daughters, Meghan, Madison, and Mallory. He enjoys golfing, personal computing, college athletics, reading, and playing with his children.
